        An Austin, Texas law firm dedicated to providing vigorous advocacy in support of the labor movement, and the pursuit of civil rights in employment for individual employees.

        We provide legal services to labor unions concerning arbitration, collective bargaining, organizing campaigns, litigation in federal or state courts, and matters before the National Labor Relations Board and other administrative agencies. For individual employees, we provide representation in a variety of proceedings in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies.

        GLENDA L. PITTMAN


        Ms. Pittman, president of the law firm of Glenda Pittman & Associates, P.C., has been Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1995, and is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.  She has been a union-side labor lawyer since becoming a lawyer in 1985.  Ms. Pittman also has practiced in the areas of plaintiff’s employment law and employee fringe benefits.  Her work for unions has included providing legal support for organizing, assisting with collective bargaining, pursuing and defending unfair labor practice charges before the National Labor Relations Board, pursuing and defending lawsuits in federal and state courts, presenting unions’ cases in arbitration, and many other legal services on behalf of unions.  Ms. Pittman’s work for individual employees has involved pursuing employment civil rights claims, advising regarding other employment issues, and negotiating contracts with employers.

         

        Ms. Pittman earned a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Natural Resources from the University of Michigan in 1978, and a law degree from the University of Michigan School of Law in 1984.  In 1984 and 1985, she was a law clerk in Kalamazoo, Michigan to the late United States District Court Judge Richard A. Enslen.  From 1985 to 1991, Ms. Pittman practiced with the labor law firm then known as Miller, Cohen, Martens & Ice, P.C. in Southfield, Michigan.  In 1991, she moved to Austin, Texas, joined the law firm of Van Os, Deats, Rubinett and Owen, P.C., and then, in 1994, established a law firm with Vella M. Fink, who retired in 2008 and now acts as of counsel to the firm.

         

        Ms. Pittman has served with a number of professional organizations, including acting as Chair of the Texas State Bar Labor and Employment Law Section from 2003 to 2004, and as a member of the AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee Board of Directors from 2001 to 2004.  She speaks at labor and employment law seminars often, has written and presented a number of papers on labor and employment law topics, and has served as a panelist addressing labor and employment law issues.  Most recently, she was a member of a panel at the Center for American and International Law’s 54th Annual Course on Labor Law and Labor Arbitration addressing The Representation Process in Practice, and moderated by NLRB Region 16 Regional Director Martha Kinard.

         

        Since 2003, Ms. Pittman has been recognized as a Texas Super Lawyer in the field of labor and employment law.  Thomson Reuters, publishers.  In 1999, she was first selected by peers to be listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Labor & Employment section, and then in 2010, to be listed in the Best Lawyers in America, Labor Law-Union section.  Woodward/White Inc., publishers.
